Im Inventar der Sammlung Galaverni wie folgt beschrieben: „A couple of ancestors. Collected in the Bobo area, south east of Bobo Dioulasso in 1956. A special cult was tributed to this couple of figures carved to commemorate the clan ancestors, who had as well the function of controlling the spirits that inhabit the bush that surrounding the village and that were embodied by the statues themselves. Sacrifices were made to obtain protection and help from them. Carved human figures are quit rare among the Bobo, whose scufpture often displays stylistic influences from other tribe. In this specimen, a certain similarity with the neighboring Lobi can be noticed, a similarity more evident in sculptures of large size. On a natural patina sacrificial traces, besides black and reddish colouring, can be remarked. The !arger sculpture wears a simple necklace made of a thin cord with cowries and a metal pendent.“
